Exciting time!!! There is so much I wanna talk about and so little time!
First and foremost, an introduction to a newly canonized saint, and not just for the whole church, but especially for Canada!
Introducing....
Saint Andre Bassette
A simple doorkeeper, but also helped build he huge St. Joseph's Oratory in Montreal and also, through St. Joe's intercession, is attributed with many many healings!
And all this the day after the feast of
St. Marie Marguerite d'Youville (1701-1771), the first Canadian born person elevated to sainthood, and now we have the first male Canadian born person canonized! Then on Tuesday, we celebrate the
North American Martyrs, the eight Jesuits who shed their blood for the Canadian Church! This is a very special time for the Canadian Church!
Next order of Business...
We had our first Cornerstone here at Queens! Its an outreach event that we put on monthly here. The theme was openess and abandonment. We had 4 testimonies, two from students, two from staff, praise and worship and fellowship. It went really well, we had about 25-30 students come out! I was blessed to be part of the music group, and we're getting really TIGHT! The Spirit is moving! Keep praying!
Last Thing, George Weigel, the guy who wrote the mammoth 1,000 page
Witness to Hope, biography of the life of Pope John Paul II, (and every page was needed, JPII's life could fill tomes with the amount of good he did) just finished
the sequel. (No, its not called, John Paul II, THE RETURN OF SUPERMAN!)
Its about the last few years of John Paul II's life, what I found interesting is the clip of an interview with the Weigel about the book. First how he describes the Pope's “last encyclical” as the experience of the world watching him die...wow! That was a huge witness to the world! then this part!
TCS: What do you think is one of the most enduring accomplishments of John Paul II’s papacy?
GW: I think the thread that is woven throughout all of them (the great accomplishments) is, as I said a moment ago, is this notion that the church is a mission, the church doesn’t have a mission. The church doesn’t exist for its own maintenance. The church exists for the proclamation of the Gospel and the invitation of the world to friendship with Christ and following God through
history and the path God is taking.
"The Church exists for the proclamation of the Gospel!" put that in your meditation pipe and smoke it!(with incense)
And now, in celebration of the Chilean's getting out of the mine!
Status: We childproofed our homes but they are still getting in
