Pyros of the world...IGNITE!

This weekend,
Thanksgiving, (Thank you, Lord... for everything)

Our Lady of the Rosary :Today (more on this below)

Related to the title of the blog, todays Gospel:

"If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him?” Lk. 11:13

Here in Queens U Catholic Christian Outreach/Newman House, we've been asking for Fire and the Holy Spirit. In today's Gospel, after reading the first part of this quote you'd think Christ would say, "how much more gifts would the Father give you." But, no, He says "will the Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him." So we need to ask Him for the Holy Spirit! Ask forgiveness for your sins, and ask for the Holy Spirit and you'll be set on FIRE!
Finally, today is the feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary! The anniversary of the Battle of Lepanto! It was the decisive defeat of the Turkish Ottoman empire by the Holy League, credited to Our Lady when the pope called Christendom to pray en masse the rosary! This defeat effectively saved Christendom from invasion!

And who better to commemorate then G.K. Chesterton from his extended poem, Lepanto

Don John laughing in the brave beard curled,
Spurning of his stirrups like the thrones of all the world,
Holding his head up for a flag of all the free.
Love-light of Spain--hurrah!
Death-light of Africa!
Don John of Austria
Is riding to the sea.
